How to Organise a Luxury Marquee/Tipi Wedding

Do you want to find a way of expressing your individuality and creativity, when planning your own Wedding? Then having a blank canvas to work with would be the ideal scenario. If this sounds like an amazing idea, then my suggestion to you would be to hire a Marquee *Sperry, Capri, Clear Span, Inflatable, Arabian Tent, Yurt, Stretch tent, Circus Tent, or the wonderful Tipi in all it's splendour.
Obtain 3 quotations with optional extras and make sure you check what support will be included. Camping - this will give you the freedom to extend the Wedding weekend celebration, flexibility to create your dream vision and the opportunity to also bring your furry four legged friends along.
So once you have confirmed your date with either the Church or the Registrar, you will then need to find a suitable setting for your Luxury Marquee/Tipi Wedding. Whether the venue has its own outdoor set up or you fancy creating your Wedding in a beautiful woodland setting/being close to water/in a farmers field or in the magnificent grounds of a beautiful Stately Home, ground hire can range from anywhere in the £100's to the £1000's. Farmers are always looking for ways to increase their revenue, so don't be afraid to approach them. Tipi/Marquee companies may also have a page on their website with a list of sites that they have worked with previously and can recommend to you, just be sure to do your research and don't settle for anything less than a 5 star rating!!
Marriage and Civil Partnerships can only take place within a permanently immovable structure comprising of at least one room. Marquee/Tipi's are not licensed for Weddings, however, a lot of couples complete the formalities and legalities a few days before and then have their Wedding Ceremony conducted by a Humanist, Celebrant, family member or friend.
If this is still for you then some of the main things you need to consider are:- Access for large vehicles onto your chosen site for delivery of the temporary structure and individual items, as well as enough flat ground for your Marquee/Tipi and extra space outside of this. Overhead cables/underground services, Privacy - from a noise perspective, Power Connection - if there isn't any then you will require a generator, this is normally delivered at the same time as your Marquee/Tipi, just make sure that you check with your suppliers how much electricity they will require, also you will need to check the fuel level on the morning of your wedding and if necessary top up. If you are having your Wedding between the months of September to May then you will be sure to require heating. Water, On site toilets, Lighting, Catering, Parking for guests and suppliers, Security, Wedding Insurance, Signage, Special collection of rubbish from the local council, Catering tent, Event staff - 1 to every 20 guests, Fresh portable water, Crockery, Cutlery, Glassware, Table linen, Napkins, Cooking equipment, Spare cutlery and crockery in case of breakages. Hire of bar structure and bar tender with refrigeration for a cash bar or if you fancy running your own bar, you will need to order your own alcohol and mixers on a sale and return basis as you will undoubtedly over order, hire of glassware - please check that it can it be returned dirty and ice. Floral arrangements, Entertainment, DJ/Band, Separate amp and mobile microphone for speeches, knife and stand for cutting cake. Hiring a stylist or DIY styling. Photographer, Videographer, Special effects and Outdoor Games.
Be sure to have a Contingency plan, from an indoor space to hold a ceremony, alternative hard standing parking, umbrellas, blankets, net to protect cake from flies and citronella candles to name but a few...... If you are looking at a venue with the option for a marquee in the grounds please check whether Event Management is offered and if they will be there on the day, do they have their own ceremony room, when can you set up, length of hire period, how often can you visit the site before hand, do they offer planning meetings and ask if they work with preferred suppliers or are you free to use who you choose. Also do they provide a bar/catering, is camping, fireworks allowed, what is the cut off time for music and what isn't included in the price.
Please ensure all of your suppliers have their own Public Liability Insurance and if you are holding a one-off licensable event at unlicensed premises then you will need to obtain a TENS Licence from your local Council.
